Opening Minds Through Arts (OMA) is an intergenerational evidence-based intervention that pairs volunteers with older adults living with dementia. Volunteers work with Senior Services' participants as partners to create abstract art projects that engage the mind and break through cognitive barriers for a new level of expression. Typically, each OMA cohort runs for 11 weeks. Volunteers participate in one training session for the first week and then spend the next 10 weeks working directly with participants to create art. No art skills required. Training is September 7 from 1pm-2:30PM and the following 10 weeks will be each Monday at 10:30AM.
