Hospice Volunteer - Patient Companion and Caregiver Respite

Description

Volunteer opportunity to provide emotional and practical support to hospice patients and families. Activities include:

  • supportive phone calls
  • companionship visits
  • respite for caregivers
  • running errands (pharmacy or grocery store)

Volunteers also provide administrative support at one of our two office locations or in-patient facilities. These roles include:

  • data entry and filing
  • greeting and directing visitors
  • answering phone calls
  • organizing medical supplies

There are also a few other specialty roles that require additional training, which include:

  • auxiliary chaplaincy
  • bereavement assistance (including our KidsPath program for children under 18 years of age)
  • tuck-in support calls
  • pet therapy

All Hospice of the Piedmont volunteers are screened and background-checked. Volunteers must be age 18-years of age or older and complete a 12-hour training session/orientation.
