Who We Are
We establish healthcare priorities for African American and Indigenous People of Color (BIPOC) with the high rate of black maternal and infant health as a critical priority. We empower, explore, and advocate for the most effective, community- based, culturally competent policies and practices for improving outcomes for black/brown parents and babies. We work to reverse the current complex trends and patterns of maternal and infant health outcomes advocate with maternity healthcare practitioners to achieve optimal preconception, prenatal, antepartum, and postpartum care and reach healthy reproductive experiences for black/brown families in North Carolina.
What We Do
We eliminate North Carolina’s crisis of having the highest infant and maternal mortality rates in the country, especially among African American and Indigenous families (BIPOC). To increase access to culturally sensitive and competent healthcare professionals, improve educational opportunities, provide affordable and respectful care to underserved, rural and disadvantaged urban populations. We provide access to the highest quality of Certified and Trained Birth and Postpartum Doulas and independent reproductive health specialists with services available across North Carolina.
