Who We Are

Winston Salem Christian School has been providing education to the community of Winston Salem for forty years. We have a currently student population of over 300 individual students and an alumni network of thousands of people in the Triad. Approximately a year ago, WSCS was informed that our current home was being sold with no possibility of the school being open for the 2019-2020 school year. We refused to accept this as our future. Our students rallied, launched social media campaigns and fundraised. Thanks to the diligence and dedication of our students our future is looking bright!

We have purchased a new home on the site of the former Woodland Baptist Christian School at 3665 Patterson Ave. This facility is a great place for us to grow and expand, but has been empty for over 10 years, necessitating us to engage in extensive remodeling. Our school community is very supportive and willing to commit their time and sweat equity for this project, but due to the overwhelming number of students who are attending on scholarship and grants, we are in an extensive campaign to find creative ways to fund and supply this endeavor.

Winston Salem Christian School is the only independent, international Christian school in the Triad.

  • We are Christian. Every students experiences biblically based instruction every day, prays together and worships together in weekly chapels in all levels of our school, from ELC to Upper School. We serve together by partnering with local non- profits in order to represent Christ to our community. We preach the word of God in all that we do. Just this year, at our annual back to school camp for our high school, 16 students made professions of faith.
  • We are strong academically. We offer a wide variety of AP Courses and our graduates earn admission into competitive universities, often receiving significant scholarship money. 63% of our graduates receive college scholarships to schools such as UNC Chapel Hill, NC State, High Point University, University of Miami, and Liberty University to just name a few.
  • We are diverse. Our community is made up of 43% African American, 37% Caucasian, 13% bi-racial, 5% Hispanic, and 2% Asian.
  • We are engaged. More than two-thirds of our students participate in extra curricular activities such as musical theatre, athletics and a variety of clubs and intramurals.
  • We are inclusive. Our students come from a wide variety of socio-economic spectrums. 75 students at WSCS attend using the NC Opportunity Grant, yet we also have the children of doctors, lawyers, surgeons, pastors, business owners and teachers attend our school. Approximately two-thirds of our students live in Title One school districts which leads to a wide variety of experiences and perspectives in each classroom.

What We Do

Winston Salem Christian School seeks to equip the next generation for Christlike engagement with the world. Our goal is to produce L.I.O.N.S.

L- Love the Lord: We seek for each of our students to have an encounter with the Lord that changes their life forever.

I- Intellectual Curiosity: We desire to implement a thirst for knowledge in our students that lasts far past their time in a classroom setting. We want them to learn to think for themselves and know how and where to seek knowledge.

O- Ownership: We hope each of our students takes ownership over themselves, their work, their world and their purpose. Taking responsibility for the outcome of your life is an important part of the process of growing up

N- Nobility: A word not often used in contemporary society, but something we desire to be exhibited in our students. To be noble is to have a standard above that of the majority. We seek to develop students that hold themselves to high standards in all areas of their lives.

S- Servant Leadership: We hope students will have a heart for service cultivated in their time at WSCS, and that they will learn the art of leading through serving. Every student is required to complete 200 service hours by graduation, and we hope to provide them many opportunities to serve the community of Winston Salem.
