Winston-Salem Street School

The Winston-Salem Street School began in 2004 as an effort to do something about the increasing number of high school drop-outs in our community (approximately 500 per year in the WS/FCS System). Our approach to reaching this population focuses on small class sizes (10:1), individualized attention, a customized curriculum plan that meets the student where they are in their journey and a comprehensive effort to love on these students and show them that someone cares. In the last 20 years, over 400 students have graduated from our program.

The Winston-Salem Street School is a private, nonprofit, alternative high school for at-risk and under-served students in our community. Our mission is to make sure these students have an opportunity to overcome barriers, mistakes and challenges to graduate, receive their diploma and prepare for a bright and productive future.
