Joy Prom Winston-Salem is a full-scale, annual prom for the special needs individuals and those with disabilities in our community. Established in 2015, we welcome guests ages 16+, with any physical, developmental, or intellectual "different ability!"
The Host/ Hostess is the most relational (and needed!) role at Joy Prom. Each guest that comes to Joy Prom is paired with a Host/Hostess that accompanies them throughout the evening.
Host/Hostess guide the guests to the different activities of the evening; remains with the guest at each activity and never leaves the guest alone. Host/ Hostess ensure the guest is enjoying the activities of the guest's choice. The Hostess remains with the guest until the guest is reunited with their parent/caretaker at the end of the evening.
Host/Hostess who are 18+ require a background check within the past 12 months. We ask the volunteers to cover the cost of your background check to help ensure Joy Prom is a safe experience for guests and volunteers. Joy Prom is a volunteer-run initiative and this event is entirely funded through donations. If cost is a barrier to you, please email info@joypromwinston.org and simply decline to cover the cost when completing your background check.
The approx cost of the backgroung check is $20.00
