We're named in memory of Callie Golden of High Point, N.C., who died at age 12 from spinal muscular atrophy (SMA). SMA slowly weakened Callie's body, but she lived a full life. Callie loved attending school despite her physical disabilities. A wide variety of support from her schools and her community made this possible. The Callie Golden Foundation hopes to provide similar support to other children who have disabilities.
What We Do
The Callie Golden Foundation works to welcome children who have disabilities into the life of the traditional school classroom. We do this by granting money to pay for classroom accommodations, testing, staff, equipment, or any other barrier that prevents a student with disabilities from participating fully at school.
